Working with the obvious - open physical practice

  • Café Les Renards 1239 Rue De Bellechasse Montreal Canada (carte)

We would like to invite you to an open, physical practice based on improvisation and working with attention. The practice is the basis of our improvised performance ‘Doing things in front of the others’ (which we will show in the White Wall Studio Montreal on the 20th of August).
It’s open to everyone, with everything a person could bring in - their presence, engagement and embodied knowledge. We invite people with all kinds of experience to tune in with us.

We will facilitate different exercises, working mostly with attention, perception and behavior (understood as unconscious movements). We will focus on everyday patterns of behavior, gestures, routines, tearing them down into very basic mechanisms of movement and interrelating.

The questions and issues that we want to investigate together are:
-> How to give more space to fragility and subject decision making process to sensations and sensitivity/responsivity (using improvisation as a tool)
-> What potential emerge from being exhibited/exhibiting oneself and how playful it can be (looking at a performance setting as a specific social situation that brings/shapes a specific kind of attention)
-> Working with the obvious

WHEN: 14.08 (Wed) and 19.08 (Mon) | 18:45-20:45

WHERE: Coop Café Les Renards 1239 Rue de Bellechasse, Montréal

PARTICIPATION IS FREE
